JJ Walker (1965) is an English artist, product and graphic designer whose lifelong passion for art began in childhood, inspired by the visionary work of Rodney Matthews and Hajime Sorayama. While his practice has evolved beyond these early influences, their emphasis on craftsmanship and imaginative visual thinking continues to inform his work. Working across multiple media, Walker explores themes related to the human condition, blending aesthetic precision with social, political and cultural commentary. His work often features the human form—playfully altered, distorted or reimagined—to reflect the contradictory, humorous and sometimes unsettling nature of human behavior. With a background in advertising and graphic design, he frequently uses juxtaposition, double meaning and visual deception to challenge perception and engage audiences. Now gaining recognition later in his career, Walker continues to push boundaries, questioning contemporary ideas of taste, value and aesthetics in a media-saturated world, drawing inspiration in part from thinkers like Oscar Wilde.
